We are seeking an Engineering Manager for our Carey, Ohio Plant. The location is in NW Ohio close to Findlay.
Position Summary:
Manage and direct essential engineering functions related to manufacturing engineering, product launches, product documentation, developing, maintaining, and improving manufacturing processes.
Essential Job Functions:
- To provide leadership, development, training, and direction for all positions within the manufacturing engineering department.
- To implement best practices and improve existing manufacturing technologies that provide high quality products, improved efficiency and optimizes profitability for the company.
- Provide leadership for project management activities that result in creative and innovative improvements in the manufacturing processes.
- Provide technical services for development of process instructions manuals and key training aids for manufacturing.
- Develop and manage departmental budget leading to cost control and scrap reduction.
- Support and implement continuous improvement projects resulting in reduced scrap and labor, quality improvements, lower cycle times and improved safety.
- Support manufacturing in troubleshooting processes.
Process Actions including but not limited to the following:
- Engineering work standards (Direct labor standards, Earned Hours)
- Press and machine cycle times
- Automation
- Press Loading Capacity
- Manage implementation of all product changes.
Plant Engineering including but not limited to the following:
- Accurate and up to date plant and factory drawings
- Expansion and Capital improvement projects
- Scrap Improvement plans
- Direct Labor Efficiency Improvement plans
Tooling Engineering including but not limited to the following:
- Mold maintenance and refurb
- Process Engineering
- Mold changeover
Product Engineering including but not limited to the following:
- Representing the plant on new program launch teams.
- APQP process
- New process development and prove out.
- Bill of Materials (develop and maintain)
- Process flow charts, FMEAs, and control plan
- Process planning
- Capital planning.
- Timelines and open issues
- Maintain accurate and current product documentation:
- Drawings
- Change request.
- Product/process change checklist.
- Timelines
- Quoting
- New programs
- Design changes
- Cost Reductions
- Manufacturing Planning
- Factory capacity planning
- Capital (forecasting, tracking, budgeting)
- Develop, implement, and support automated manufacturing processes.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years in a leadership role, progressively increasing in job responsibilities.
- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering or plastics field.
- Familiarity with APQP methodology.
- Experienced in an engineering field within a manufacturing environment, preferably an automotive supplier.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
- Through knowledge of SPC and statistical data analysis.
- Practical knowledge and experience with DOE techniques.
