We are seeking a Commercial Manager for our Teijin Automotive Stamping Plant in Manchester, Michigan.
SUMMARY: An outside sales role that will identify and develop new business opportunities with assigned customers or within assigned market segment for automotive manufacturing stampings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identifies and pursues new business opportunities with the application of various metal stamping materials and processes for exterior, interior, and structural/functional applications with assigned customers of market.
- Using extensive knowledge of company capabilities and customer needs, creates presentations for new or existing product lines.
- Responsible for overall quote preparation, explanation and justification using knowledge of internal and tooling costs.
- Interacts with other departments to determine the level of Product Engineering to project and plan for future support requirements in design, analysis, materials R&D, testing illustration and other product related areas.
- Ensures all orders, quotes, and other requirements are processed in customer’s and company systems in an accurate and timely manner.
- Directs customer interface/communication to meet all Sales, Service and Marketing needs.
- May manage and direct one or more Insides Sales Specialists.
- Responsible for ensuring that customer requirements are met.
- Supports and exemplifies corporate values and commitment to quality, optimism, ownership, teamwork, and communication.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following 5S, safety, and environmental standards.
- Know, understand, utilize, and follow IATF 16949 and/or ISO 14001 procedures.
- Attention to details related to customer specific requirements.
- Support continual improvement initiatives and look for continuous improvement ideas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS degree in engineering, sales or marketing is recommended.
- Minimum of 8 years’ sales, marketing, engineering, and/or manufacturing experience in the automotive, heavy truck and/or marine industry. Additional experience may be substituted for an otherwise qualified candidate.
- Demonstrated knowledge of metal stamping processes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of automotive industry requirements and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex projects including extensive communication and coordination between customers and internal departments.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Ability to meet and deal tactfully and courteously with fellow employees and customers.
- Experience in QAD helpful but not required.
