As a world leader in diversified composite technologies, Continental Structural Plastics (CSP) is reshaping the future of vehicle light weighting. We create award-winning, lightweight composite Class A body panels and structural components to serve customers in the light vehicle, heavy truck, HVAC and construction markets. Our advanced materials development team has created several patented composite formulations to help customers meet design and regulatory challenges.

Our overall system approach (CAE design optimization, raw material selection, molding process, bonding, and prime/paint) results in the design and production of the highest quality composite parts in the marketplace today.

We are seeking a Corporate Sustainability Manager for our Auburn Hills, Michigan Corporate Office.


The corporate sustainability manager primarily develops and implements sustainability strategies that are specific to CSP and specializes in areas like eco-friendly building practices, waste stream management, and green procurement plans. They are also responsible for educating employees about company policy to handle potentially deleterious environmental impacts.  Develop and implement plans and action to positively impact manufacturing sustainability improvements that meet management goals and targets.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Help to ensure that the company avoids negative press and adverse legal action, and complies with current sustainability legislation
  • Improve the company’s public image, focusing on portraying the company’s intent to care for the environment and take responsibility for corporate activities
  • Improve the “bottom line” of the company by instituting practices that minimize waste, reduce the company’s carbon footprint, and maximize efficiency
  • Implement changes in corporate strategy to make the work environment and practices more eco-friendly; communicating these changes to human resources managers, colleagues, vendors, press, and other relevant parties.
  • Monitor the company’s sustainability performance.
  • Analyze and audit corporate activities like natural resource usage and recycling.
  • Educate people on the importance of sustainability initiatives, and obtaining funding for projects through rebate applications, grants, and project proposals.
  • May create marketing materials, such as websites or online media, intended to generate awareness of sustainability issues.
  • Must remain informed on new federal and state legislation impacting the field.
  • Collect, track and report data on strategic sustainability initiatives and marketing initiatives.
  • Manage reporting of goals to keep all project-on track; keeps track of multiple projects at the same time holding the organization accountable for meeting project milestones.
  • Communicate technical sustainability information efficiently and accurately, reports on progress by the various regions in their unique sustainability efforts.
  • Organize and analyze data in a meaningful way for both internal and external communication.
  • Develop relationships across all levels of the organization to allow for transparent and timely reporting.
  • Support external reporting requests such as surveys or questionnaires from customers/partners/organizations/agencies; builds a library of responses related to sustainability for use in completing for external requests.
  • Research and benchmark sustainability standards in the industry and share best practices.
  • Be a champion of the Corporate Sustainability Vision and Goals; acts as an organizational resource on sustainability concepts and goals.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainability, Data Analytics, Environmental Sciences, Environmental/Social/Governance (ESG) or similar; Sustainable MBA
  • Minimum five years of experience in Sustainability, Business, Project Management, or Manufacturing.
  • Ideally have an understanding of sustainability communications, commitments, disclosure, and reporting for the private sector.
  • Broad business and technical acumen.

  • Strong verbal, visual, and written communications skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well with others at all levels and with various cultural backgrounds and work styles.

  • Global brand experience
  • Manufacturing industry experience a plus
  • Strong general computer skills and cloud-based software knowledge: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive, Acrobat Pro DC, ClickUp or Project Management.


  • Professional PMI and Sustainability certifications a plus
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) a plus
